Texas Independence Party Packed with Lone Star Fun!
Toni Robertson and the Texas posse rounded up a fine lineup of Texas-style talent for our 3rd annual Independence Celebration!
Gunfights, cannon blasts, pickin’ and singin’, burgers and brisket, and all sorts of longhorns, cow-dogs, horses and more.
It was really good to see so many kids and a special thanks goes out to the school teachers and administrators for helping get the students involved. Stay tuned! This event is getting bigger and better.
Upcoming Events!
City-wide garage sale (June);
July 4th Party (July, Downtown);
Tractor Pull (October, Cemetery Road).
Texas Forest Service has lit a Fire Under Merkelites!
You may have noticed the Texas Forest Service in the old Taylor Electric building west of town! They are really good neighbors! Personnel stay in our motel, eat at our restaurants, and use a whole range of services …. And, oh yeah, they fight fires all over this part of Texas, too! Be sure and thank them for their help with our fires and our economy! It’s good to have them here for lots of reasons.
Les Rogers is the head honcho and he’s got dozens of folks helping him out!
Spring Fling was a really big Thing!
They had it all! The “celebration” of small-town life was a real party! Washers, kids’ games, pony rides, live music, and even an ugliest dog contest! All was great fun. Congrats to the organizers and participants. Keep it fun!
